The obsession with Sexting.

First off, let me say that I am not a huge fan of the term, sexting.  I think it's weird.  Since when do we have to have to have a special term for writing dirty messages?  But, it's not my term and it works to get the point across - right?  Answer me, please?!?  Yes, I know.

As, lately I'm known to do lets define our new term.  I want to make sure everyone here is on the same level.  You never know there might be some people reading this who is unaware what sexting is.  According to Wikipedia, Sexting is the act of sending sexually explicit messages or photographs, primarily between mobile phones.  So, now that we have that out of the way, I can start my usual blabbering.

For as long as sex has existed, my guess is that men have loved to talk about it.  As much as they love to have it, they love to talk about it and see pictures of it and thinking about it and dream about it and . . .  You get my drift.  So now, with the advent of the "smart phones" (which sometimes I question how smart they are) talking about sex doesn't even just have to take place when you are together - hell you can talk about it ALL the time, any time of the night, day, even in the middle of work and no one has to know.  And let me tell you, it's damn easy and maybe a little too easy.  We have the texting of phones, instant pictures if you have pictures on your cell phones if you chose to send dirty pictures (I would highly recommend you don't unless you want that shit shared with everyone), and add on top of all of that - email!  There isn't a time that a man can't reach a woman or a woman can't reach a man.

Now, I gotta say... women tend to write the texts, and emails full of emotions.  You know the type.  "I love you",  "I miss you", blah, blah.  The guys, they write the explicit ones, "I want to fuck you", "Suck me"  you know the deal.    It's just the typical men vs men emotional vs physical argument.

Now...  lately, I've had the pleasure (or displeasure) of being a part of and having friends who have had first hand experience with the BAD side of sexting.  Yes, there is a bad side.

Lets just say your man, lets call him "Dude" is very sexually attracted to you (good thing right!).  Now, Dude loves to sext you during the day, especially when you can't see each other for a couple of days (even in the best relationships you can't always see each other every day).  Sometimes, Dude likes you to play along and have a "sext session" where you tell each other what you want to do to each other.  Fun, right?  Yeah, fun for a couple of texts.  Then, Dude wants you to keep going, tell him exactly what you want to do to him, how what exactly you will touch and how.  Umm.  seriously?  He wants you tell him exactly and how?  Do you really have to text all that, and keep doing it?  And Dude wants to you do this over and over again, repeating it every day.

Don't get me wrong, I love me some talking about sex (obviously!) but do we have to discuss exactly how I'm going to do it?  Let me just "show you" next time I see you.

Girlie Commercials...

I'm a girl (shocking, I know).  I'm very comfortable with my body and the cycles it goes through.  What I'm not comfortable with are all the damn commercials on television these days for all the products that women have to use during these "cycles."  I will refrain from using the actual terms for those male readers - I know you are out there.

How many commercials do there need to be on television for birthcontrol.  Does the tune... "Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday..." ring a bell?  Really, a description that says, vaginal birth control really need to be said on TELEVISION?  Of course, I'm not really a fan of all the ads for tampons, and pads and all that either.  Seriously, don't they all do basically the same job?  Do we really need to advertise the hell out of them on tv?  I honestly, get a little embarrassed when the commercials come on, and I'm super comfortable with my body - it's just the fact that they are saying that shit out loud and there are other people in the room that might not be comfortable with the subject matter!

What really gets me is the "newest" tampon release is the U brand  - I copied the ad here.  It's supposed to be the luxury and exciting new different and exciting designer brand.  In reality it's just the Kotex reaching out with new colored packages and putting out "sexy" ads for a very unsexy time of the month.  Except - wait for it - they are colorful and add extra designs - as if you needed that.  Sounds about as helpful as the new designer diapers that are colored to look like baby jeans but cost twice as much.

And while I'm on the subject - how about the ads for cialis and Viagra?  Really??  The warning about having an erection that last for FOUR HOURS??  OK, first if you have an erection that lasts for four hours, you have bigger problems (and a highly annoyed woman!).  But do I really need to hear that on television.  Even worse is when they get a spokesperson that we KNOW talking about how he likes the Viagra, and he's usually older - it just makes it so awkward!  I'm obviously not one to shy away from sex, but this is network television.  If I want to hear about sex I want it to be on a place where I'm prepared for it - not where I could be in a room with mixed company (like someone I don't know very well!)  Or someone who doesn't know the "real" me.  Hell, someone who still thinks that I'm as pure as I look - those people still exist that think I'm a good girl - they are foolish - but they exist.

I don't want to see the commercials on television relating to any medical issues either.  Since when do we have to advertise Rx drugs?  Shouldn't your doctor just prescribe those and not you tell your doctor which prescriptions to write - yeah, that bugs me too.  Yes, a lot of things bug me - that's why i write this blog.

Yes, I just don't get sports on tv.

Before you start yelling at me, hear me out.   (Yes, I say that a lot.)  In my past (I say past because if you saw me now you wouldn't know it, I've become a bit round on the edges), I was an excellent soccer player and an excellent downhill skier.  I was captain of both teams in high school and even played on my college soccer team for a year (it was division 3 - but it counts!  I might not have played in many games, but I was damn good at practice!).  All that means is that I was very active in sports.

But what I don't get is the crazy fanatic sports lovers.  This week started football season.  And it's insane.  Literally insane.  On Sunday and Monday my entire facebook feed was nothing but people rooting, arguing and talking about the merits of this team and that, preparing for the big game, blah, blah.  Not playing in the game mind you, but getting ready to watch it.  Excuse me if I don't understand it watching a bunch of guys on television playing a game.

Now, give me live sports, that's awesome.  I'll go to any game, any sport.  In fact, I don't even really like baseball but I've been to no less than 5 games this year (with 2 more to go).  Granted, I only want to sit in the cushy seats - but I enjoy the atmosphere!

But sit and watch a game - of any sport - on tv and it gets kind of old.  So I don't understand why people get so hyped up about football season.  And get so excited about "their" team as if it was something they controlled.

Yeah, but I don't get a lot of things, so I'll just ad this one to the list.

Insensitive much? OKCupid tells us what "real" white people like.

I just got an email from OKCupid (as many of you know, my latest online personal ad website of choice - granted, I'm not sure why, because my luck has been really shitty as of late.... and we all know it's based on luck).  Anyway, this is the email subject line...

New OkTrends article: The REAL Stuff White People Like. Plus, new matches

Uhh...  Do they really know what they are sending out.  And do the people sending understand what exactly the emphasis on "real" means?  Humm.  As if there are "fake" stuff that white people like, and of course only white people.  Because apparently as humans we have vastly different things we like in people.

Anyway, the article the are referencing apparently is about the following: What is it that makes a culture unique? How are whites, blacks, Asians, or whoever different from everybody else? What tastes, interests, and concepts define an ethnic group?  We parsed the essay text of a half-million OkCupid profiles to find out.

Honestly, I'm a bit afraid to read it to find out what they say.  Maybe some other day, some other night when I'm a little less scared, and I don't get scared...  The article might have valid points, I'll give it a chance - just not today, today I will make fun of it....

Everything except country . . .

You've heard it a million times.  What kind of music do you like?  Everything... well, except country, of course.

What's it that everyone has against country music?  Honestly, these days country music has been extremely watered down.  There is no more Hank Williams Jr, There is a tear in my beer, because I'm crying for you dear...  I will tell you, that whiny, oh woah is me country music can get a bit annoying.  One of my favorite country songs that makes fun of the whole genre is by Rascal Flatts and is called "Backwards" the chorus goes:
And he said you wanna know what you get

When you play a country song backwards
You get your house back
You get your dog back
You get your best friend Jack back
You get your truck back
You get your hair back
Ya get your first and second wives back
Your front porch swing
Your pretty little thing
Your bling bling bling and a diamond ring
Your get your farm and the barn and the boat and the Harley
First night in jail with Charlie
Sounds a little crazy, a little scattered and absurd
But that's what you get when you play a country song backwards
But when you listen (and give it a chance!) to "today's" country, it's barely discernible from pop music.  Whether that be good or bad, it's still fun music.  Most of the song's have a bit of a story, and are kind of fun.

Yes, I know I sound a little crazy - yesterday I was lamenting on the laurels of dirty dirty music. Now today I'm saying how much I love country music.  I never said I was a one sided person.  And no one else should be either.  But I'm dang sick of people saying that all music is great, except country.

Give it a try.  You might like it.

I've been googled...

Really, who would have thunk it?  A post I wrote way back in August based on "big boobs" has actually been one of the reasons and ways that a lot of people (one can only assume men) end ujp on my blog.  Every couple of days, I have a hit on my blog - usually based on a google search with something related to big boobs - and they have apparently read that entry.

Who knows, maybe I shall be considered the big boobed blogger?  Ohh, now since I'm 30 and the blog title doesn't really work anymore - maybe that should be the new name.  "The Big Boobed Blogger"  It has a nice ring to it.
